Does Fridoo cost anything? Is there a subscription?
No subscription. You pay for Fridoo once in the App Store and use the app forever — including all future updates. No ads, no in-app purchases.
How does the barcode scanner work?
Point your iPhone camera at the barcode. Fridoo automatically recognises the product via the open database OpenFoodFacts and fills in the name and category — you just enter the expiration date. Only the barcode is transmitted, no data about you.
Does Fridoo work offline?
Yes, Fridoo is 100% offline-capable. Already scanned products are stored locally and are instantly available even without an internet connection. Internet is only needed for new barcode lookups.
How do I set up push reminders?
You decide when Fridoo reminds you: any number of intervals (e.g. 14 days, 1 week, 3 days and 1 day before) plus the time of day. All reminders are scheduled locally on your device — nothing leaves your iPhone.
Is my data uploaded to a cloud?
No. There is no Fridoo server, no account and no tracking. All data stays on your device by default. Optionally you can enable iCloud sync — your data is then encrypted and synced across your iPhone and iPad via your private Apple account.
Does Fridoo run on iPad too?
Yes, Fridoo runs natively on iPhone and iPad. With optional iCloud sync, your data syncs automatically between both devices.
Can I export or back up my data?
Yes. With a single tap you export all items as a JSON file — ideal as a backup or when switching devices. Importing works just as easily.
