Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1) How do I connect my Mac and iPhone?
-
Launch the CC Monitor app on your Mac.
-
Open the CC Monitor iPhone app.
-
Tap “Scan QR Code” and point your iPhone at the pairing code shown on your Mac.
The devices connect instantly and stay paired even after restarts.
If needed, generate a new pairing code anytime for added security.
2) What does CC Monitor actually track?
CC Monitor monitors Claude Code processes on your Mac in real-time.
It tracks:
-
CPU and memory usage
-
Current process status (Idle, Running, Done)
-
Command being executed (if available)
No code or content is ever read, stored, or transmitted — only process-level metrics.
3) Do I need to configure anything before using it?
No configuration required.
Simply install both apps, scan the QR code, and CC Monitor starts working automatically.
All system detection and data syncing happen in the background.
4) Does CC Monitor slow down my Mac or iPhone?
Not at all.
The app is designed for minimal resource consumption:
-
CPU usage: under 1%
-
Memory: ~20 MB on Mac, ~30 MB on iPhone
-
Network traffic: less than 1 KB/s
You can leave it running continuously without performance impact.
5) How are notifications handled?
When a Claude Code process finishes, you’ll receive:
-
Mac notifications via the menu bar app
-
Push notifications on your iPhone through Firebase Cloud Messaging
Notifications include the instance name, completion status, and optional sound alerts.
6) Can I monitor multiple Claude instances at once?
Yes.
CC Monitor automatically detects and displays all running Claude sessions.
Each instance appears with its own metrics, name, and live status.
You can rename sessions or terminate specific ones directly from the Mac app.
7) What data is synced via Firebase?
Only essential, non-sensitive metrics are synced:
-
Instance ID and name
-
CPU and memory data
-
Status (Running / Idle / Done)
-
Timestamps
All data is encrypted in transit and does not include source code, prompts, or results.
8) Can I use CC Monitor without an Internet connection?
Partially.
The Mac app can continue local monitoring offline, but
the iPhone app requires a connection to sync updates via Firebase.
When the connection returns, data automatically resynchronizes.
9) What permissions does CC Monitor require?
-
Mac: No special permissions; runs fully sandboxed.
-
iPhone: Camera (for QR pairing) and Notifications (optional).
-
Network: Required for encrypted sync.
No background tracking or analytics are used.
10) Is my data private and secure?
Yes. CC Monitor is built with privacy-first architecture:
-
All process monitoring stays local to your Mac.
-
Data transfer is encrypted and user-specific.
-
No code access, no telemetry, no analytics.
-
Pairing codes are unique and changeable anytime.
11) Does CC Monitor support multiple Macs?
Yes.
You can pair multiple Macs with the same iPhone — each with its own unique code.
Alternatively, pair different iPhones to separate Macs (for teams or work setups).
12) How do I rename or manage my Claude instances?
Open the Mac menu bar, select an instance, and choose:
-
Rename to assign a custom name (e.g. “Project A Build”)
-
Focus Window to bring its terminal to the front
-
Quit Instance to safely terminate the process
13) What happens if my Claude Code crashes or freezes?
CC Monitor detects non-responsive processes automatically.
The status will show “Stopped” or “Unresponsive”, and you’ll get a notification.
You can then restart or terminate the instance directly from the app.
14) How do I uninstall CC Monitor?
-
Mac: Drag the app from Applications to the Trash.
-
iPhone: Hold the app icon and select Remove App.
Your pairing and local data will be deleted automatically.
15) Will there be new features in the future?

-
History Graphs (CPU/memory over time)
-
CSV/JSON Data Export
-
Apple Watch & Widget support
-
Shortcuts automation integration
